poutine

I really enjoy cooking, and being all elaborate in the kitchen. And I love fresh food, fresh fruit and vegetables, and working with super fresh, raw ingredients.

And sometimes, what I really want to do is make something battery and oily and delightful.

poutine

This poutine goes like this: half a bag of potato gems, a block of smoked cheddar vegan cheese (maybe redwood?), half a cup of vegan gravy (I use orgran, with a teaspoon of massels vegan beef stock powder added in). Cook the potato gems, and when they're crispy, pour the gravy over them, and top with the grated cheese.

Good times.

You have no idea how excited I was to see the title of this post! I just got back from living in Canada and poutine was a delightful discovery there! Man oh man it is just TOO GOOD. yum yum yum. I know exactly what you mean about sometimes just wanting oil. hahaha.

It is a blessing that I rarely go to the freezers at the supermarket. Otherwise I would eat potato gems ALL THE TIME.

vegiebug, i literally had my first poutine this year and i LOVE it now!

cindy, the potato gem freezer is directly opposite the tofu and the fresh noodles in my local iga, so it is pretty difficult to resist the siren song of delicious potato gems.

you know what makes them amazing? satay sauce.
